Saturday Family Science – Igloo Architecture, Dec. 1

November 29, 2018

The Museum of Nature & Science presents “Saturday Family Science – Igloo Architecture,” Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11:45am. The program is free and open to the public.

An igloo, also known as a snow house or snow hut, is a type of shelter built of snow. It may seem odd, but, when compacted, snow is a great insulator. Pockets of trapped air keep the heat in and the cold out. Build your own igloo out of sugar cubes and learn more about this unique style of housing used in Arctic locations.

“Saturday Family Science” is offered monthly, encouraging families to work as a team, problem solve, and experiment through participating in a wide range of STEM activities led by museum staff and volunteers.

The Museum of Nature & Science is located at 411 N. Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm.  For additional information, visit the website at: or call (575) 522-3120.
