Sci-Fi Summer Film Series at MoNaS

June 11, 2018

Screen science fiction films with a scientist.

The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science is presenting three films at the Rio Grande Theatre this summer. A special guest host will discuss the science versus fiction of each film during a brief introduction before the film begins at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm and admission to all three films is free.

June 12: The Andromeda Strain
A deadly extraterrestrial virus is brought to Earth when a research satellite crashes near a tiny Arizona town. Everyone in the community dies within days, except for a baby and an “insulated” drunk. Rated G.

June 26: Big Hero 6
A young tech whiz named Hiro must save his city with the help of his inflatable robot Baymax, and his friends Go Go Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred. Rated PG.

August 14: Jaws
An enormous great white shark terrorizes a summer resort town, where a police chief, a fisherman, and a marine biologist realize they’re “gonna need a bigger boat” to battle the bloodthirsty beast. Rated PG.

Admission to the Las Cruces Museum System is free.
