Life Along the Rio Grande exhibit opens April 3, BCC

Life Along the Rio Grande, opening Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Branigan Cultural Center, is an exhibit featuring the work of members from the Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA).

Studio Art Quilt Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 and promote art quilts and the artists who create them while exhibiting all over the world and documenting the art quilt movement. Artists residing in Western states were asked to create work representing the vast variety of things that are important to the Rio Grande River.

The Rio Grande river flows through the state of New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado and it is a critical source for the desert region. There is a variety of living things along the Rio Grande. The work created by SAQA artists in the exhibit explores historical, cultural, scientific, geological, and environmental topics relating to the flora, fauna, and people living near the river.

Admission is free to the Branigan Cultural Center, located at 501 N. Main Street. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at museums.las-cruces.org or call 575-541-2154.
