“Arid America: Henry C. Trost and the Revival of Spanish Renaissance,” Lecture on Thursday, April 13, 1:00 pm

Jerry Wallace will present a lecture entitled, “Arid America: Henry C. Trost and the Revival of Spanish Renaissance,” Thursday, April 13th at 1:00pm at the Branigan Cultural Center.  Photo: Old Mesilla Park School, built in 1899

Jerry D. Wallace is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of New Mexico focusing on environmental history and historic preservation – specifically on human-animal relationships and the built environment in the twentieth century. His dissertation examines neighborhood identities in the early Cold War era in which he explores how class, gender, animals, age and the trans-local have shaped built communities in the American West, Southwest, and the borderlands. He currently teaches at New Mexico State University.

Admission to the Branigan Cultural Center is free. The museum is located at 501 North Main Street and is open Tuesday – Friday from 10am to 4:30pm, Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at: museums.las-cruces.org or call 575.541.2154.
