Art Workshops in April

April 5, 2017

The Las Cruces Museums will be hosting art workshops at both the Branigan Cultural Center and Museum of Art every Saturday in April from 10am to 12pm.

The Branigan Cultural Center presents the family program Culture Club with the following schedule:

April 8 – The Mexican gray wolf (or El lobo) is the most endangered subspecies of wolf in the world. Visitors will create their own wolves mask and learn about the Mexican gray wolf.

April 15 – Kimonos are a Japanese traditional garment. Visitors will make their own kimono paper dolls, and learn about kimonos in the Japanese culture.

April 22 – Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. We welcome families to join us in celebrating our planet and indulge in a stone painting activity.

April 29 – The best way to determine if wolves are present is to find their tracks. Wolf tracks can be more than twice as big as a coyote’s! We will be creating an art piece out of wolf prints.

The Museum of Art hosts the informal, interdisciplinary workshop “Artrageous”. Participants will have a chance to indulge their creativity while creating a project to take home. The theme for Artrageous in April is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and here are the topics:

April 8 – Upcycled jewelry

April 15 – Found object picture frames

April 22 – Earth Day celebration (at Plaza de Las Cruces)

April 29 – Egg carton crafts

Admission to the City of Las Cruces Museums are free. The museums are located downtown and are open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at: museums.las-cruces.org.

If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event, please contact the museum 48 hours prior to the event.
