BROWN BAG LECTURE: “Where have we been and Where are we going with Steam?”

February 3, 2016

The Las Cruces Railroad Museum hosts a free Brown Bag Lecture at 12:00 noon on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  Join us on February 9 to learn about the history of steam.  Dr. Floyd Adams will present “Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going With Steam?”  Safety regulations developed over the years have saved many lives and improved steam’s usefulness as a power source.

Adams has several mechanical engineering degrees, including a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, and served in the US Army. He later worked at Sandia Labs and for several private businesses. Since his retirement he has been doing consulting work for engineering firms around New Mexico.  He also enjoys restoring antique engines and cars.

The museum is located at 351 N. Mesilla Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  For additional information, visit the website at: http://las-cruces.org/museums or call (575) 647-4480.

If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event please contact the museum 48 hours prior to the event.
