Pi Day at the City Museums

February 17, 2015

The number pi begins 3.141592. This 3.14.15 9-2 (March 14, 2015, 9am-2pm), the Museum of Nature & Science, Museum of Art, and Branigan Cultural Center will celebrate math with a day of fun activities that highlight the role of math in everyday life, art, and culture.

Come try your hand at math trivia, learn how the Egyptians calculated fractions, and marvel at the mathematical patterns embedded in the natural world. Pi Day is free and open to the public and features activities for your budding mathematicians, as well as challenges for an audience with more years of math behind them. Why not calculate your age in base 12 this time around?

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 North Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s website at
