Adaptation Game at Branigan Cultural Center

January 13, 2015

Learn about animal adaptations in hostile environments in a fun interactive game at the Branigan Cultural Center on Saturday, January 17 at 12 noon.

How do penguins swim in the cold water near Antarctica? What are some ways that desert animals conserve water? How does a jackrabbit cool off? In this exciting game, we will test out some animal adaptations and see how far they take us in hostile environments! How will you fare in the race for survival?

Desert Air, a traveling exhibition produced and toured by National Geographic is on display at the Branigan Cultural Center through Saturday, January 17. Desert Air is the first comprehensive photographic collection of the world’s “extreme deserts” and showcases the work of George Steinmetz.

A number of family and adult programs accompany these exhibits, imparting visitors with a better understanding of how desert ecosystems and waterways impact the world that we live in. There will also be other events such as a book club, and docents lead tours of the exhibit. For a full list of activities, see the museum’s webpage. Activities presented jointly by the Branigan Cultural Center, Museum of Art, and the Museum of Nature and Science.

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 North Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s website at las-cruces.org/museums.
