Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to explore the Universe at the museum!  Planeteers is held at the museum on the first Thursday of every month beginning at 9am. It is free to the public and registration is not required.

On September 5, 2013 our subject is galaxies.  There are billions of galaxies in the Universe.  Some are very small and contain only a few million stars while others are huge and are comprised of more than 400 billion stars!  Spiral galaxies are breathtakingly beautiful as their wave-like arms contain areas were stars are formed.  These waves can glow like a fluorescent light.  Eventually the waves pass behind clouds and dim until yet another wave passes through and is, once again, illuminated.

Come and learn about the galaxies at MoNaS where you can view galaxies on the Magic Planet and make your own model to take home. Investigate our very own galaxy: the Milky Way!

MoNaS is located at 411 North Main Street. For more information, call (575) 522-3120 or visit the website www.las-cruces.org/museums.  If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event please contact the museum 48 hours before the event.
