Lecture “Colcha, Embroidered Connections” at the Branigan Cultural Center on March 14

January 15, 2013

Please join us for the 2013 History Lecture Series, lecture “Colcha, Embroidered Connections” on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 1:00pm by Mary Pierce.

As a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America for more than thirty years, Mary Pierce has always been interested in exploring the history of embroidery techniques.  She is also an experienced colcha embroidery instructor.  These two things have led her to learn about colcha embroidery, a stitch unique to the Northern Rio Grande River Valley. In 2009 she was the co-curator of an exhibit at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum of historical and contemporary colchas done in New Mexico.
